The guitar is such a fantastic instrument. I remember when I first picked up a guitar, I didn’t think I would ever be able to play a tune. Nearly six years later, I am still very much an amateur and probably will be for the next decade or two.
There’s always something new to learn when playing the guitar, and always a new genre to explore. For today’s blog, I’m focusing on guitar heroes and who my top five heroes are. I’ve tried to list those players who make me mesmerised whenever I see them play and give me the inspiration to be a better guitar player.
There really is nothing like watching your heroes play, whether it’s live, or on YouTube or just listening to their records as you close your eyes and dream of playing on stage when crowds can finally return to all of those currently closed and lonely music venues.
My list is:
- George Benson
- Brad Paisley
- John Mayer
- Robert Johnson
- Brian May
Who are your guitar heroes? Who makes you feel incredibly hypnotised by their talent?
Let me know and I’ll give them a listen.
Bruce Cockburn is an incredible Canadian guitarist playing folk, jazz & rock – seen him in concert a few times – his instrumentals are v good too!
